# Network Watch

## Overview

Network Watch is a self-serve dashboard for IdeonSelect customers to search, explore, and monitor provider networks without needing to call APIs or parse raw files. Through a single interface, customers can browse Ideon's full network inventory with rich metadata — including carrier information, markets, lines of coverage, refresh rates, and provider counts broken down by specialty and state — and distinguish which networks are included in their current license.

For networks that matter most to your users, Network Watch lets you subscribe to real-time alerts covering provider additions, removals, expirations, and count drops, with standardized status messaging updated through Ideon's triage and resolution process. An optional daily email digest surfaces new alerts and resolution updates across all subscribed networks.&#x20;

## Key Pages

### Networks

The Networks page displays Ideon's full catalog of provider networks and allows you to filter, search, and subscribe. By default, all active networks in Ideon's dataset across all five major markets are included. Recently expired networks - those that are considered no longer active and removed from carrier's sites - will be included too, with indicators on their expiration.

**Key features:**

* Search by network name or ID
* Filter by carrier, line of coverage, market, state, last imported date, and more
* Click any network row to open a preview panel with key details and alert history
* Click the purple network ID link or "More Insights" on the preview panel to open the full Network Insights page

{% hint style="info" %}
For bulk file users, networks included in your current licensing will be indicated with a gray checkmark next to the network ID. Additionally, filters support a toggle to view licensed networks only.&#x20;

API users will see all networks returned as licensed, since API access includes visibility to every active network.
{% endhint %}

### Network Insights

The Network Insights page provides a detailed view of an individual network. It can be accessed via the Networks page by clicking on the purple network ID link or "More Insights" on the network preview panel. Details on network metadata and how each datapoint is sourced can be found in the [Network Data Overview section](#metadata).

**Key features:**

* Full network metadata — carrier, line of coverage, markets, states, source, last imported date, and more
* Current Provider Counts — total, organization, individual, and specialty breakdowns
* Provider Counts by State — interactive map with a state-by-state table
* Alerts — collapsible table showing alert history for this network; defaults to collapsed if no alerts

### Alerts

The Alerts page shows all network alerts across your subscribed networks. Alerts are automatically generated to provide instant notification on key changes to Ideon's dataset. Provider Count Drop alerts that are flagged are subsequently reviewed by Ideon's operations team to provide context and confirmation on the network change.

**Key features:**

* Filter to "Pending" or "Resolved" statuses — indicators as to the review status of the alert by Ideon's operations team
* Toggle on or off a daily email summary of new and updated alerts
* Network alerts are standardized across four major categories with detailed resolution statuses — more information is available in the [Network Data Overview section](#alert-types-and-statuses)

#### Subscribing to Network Alerts

Users can subscribe to networks for search or filter results from the Networks page. Buttons to "Subscribe All Results" and "Unsubscribe All Results" are shown once a search or filter is performed. The leftmost column with the bell icon indicates whether a network is currently subscribed. Additionally, network subscriptions can be managed for individual networks using the toggles in the Networks page rows, the network preview panel, or the Network Insights page.

Subscriptions for networks are user-specific; each user can manage network subscriptions independently. Alerts for subscribed networks will be populated on the Alerts page and included in daily email notifications, if applicable.

#### Email Notifications

A daily email summary of new and updated network alerts can be toggled on or off from the Alerts page. The email summary is sent daily at 1:00 PM EST on the condition that there are new or updated alerts to report. Alerts created the prior day are included in the email summary. Similar to network subscriptions, email summaries are user-specific and will be sent to the email that the user's account and login are configured with.

## Network Data Overview

A complete data dictionary for Ideon's provider-network datasets can be found in the [Provider Data Dictionary section](/quote-and-select/flat-file-data-dictionaries/select-provider-network-data/provider-data-dictionary.md). This section documents network metadata and alerts that are surfaced in Network Watch.

### Metadata

<table><thead><tr><th width="150.33203125">Metadata Field</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Network ID</td><td>The internal, Ideon-generated identifier for the network.</td></tr><tr><td>Network Name<br>Alternate Names</td><td>Network names are structured by Ideon's operations team to match carrier source data and presentation as closely as possible. For some carriers and networks, names may not exactly match what is seen on provider directories or health insurance cards due to inconsistencies across those various sources.</td></tr><tr><td>Carrier</td><td>The name of the insurance carrier or payer associated with the given network. </td></tr><tr><td>Lines of Coverage</td><td>The lines of coverage, or product lines, the network services. These can include Medical, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid.</td></tr><tr><td>Markets</td><td>The markets the network services. These can include Individual, Small Group, and Large Group (commonly referred to as Commercial). </td></tr><tr><td>Issuer IDs</td><td>The HIOS Issuer IDs (ACA) or Carrier Contract IDs (Medicare) associated with plans that are serviced by the network.</td></tr><tr><td>Active From</td><td>The earliest date the network was configured as active for in Ideon's dataset.</td></tr><tr><td>Source</td><td>Ideon's acquisition data source for the associated network. These can include:<br> - <em>Carrier Direct:</em> sourced from the carrier's provider directory files<br> - <em>Carrier Indirect:</em> sourced from an online carrier provider directory site<br> - <em>CMS:</em> sourced from standardized files in public repositories </td></tr><tr><td>States</td><td>The primary states the network services. This is most commonly sourced through the availability data for plans that are serviced by the network in the ACA, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid markets. </td></tr><tr><td>Last Imported</td><td>The date on which data for the network was acquired, QA'd, and published.</td></tr><tr><td>Estimated Days Between Imports</td><td>The estimated refresh cadence for the network. Adding the estimated days between imports to the last imported date provides an estimate for when data for the network will next be published in standard operational circumstances.</td></tr><tr><td>Active Until</td><td>The date until which the network is considered active in Ideon's database. For active networks, this will be 12/31 of the current or upcoming year. This effectively serves as a tool for year over year network extensions, with Ideon's operations team managing network rollover and replacement in the September-November timeframe.<br><br>Expired networks will show the date on which they were considered no longer active. This can be implemented retroactively (for example, in January 2026 a network may be expired by setting the Active Until to 12/31/2025).</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Alert Types and Statuses

There are currently four types of network alerts supported. Alerts are automatically generated based on network data management and checks for significant changes.

<table><thead><tr><th width="149.96484375">Alert Type</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Added</td><td>The network was newly added to Ideon's database on the given date.</td></tr><tr><td>Expired</td><td>The network was expired on the given date and is no longer considered active. Expired networks are not available in Ideon's API or bulk files. Typically, network expiration is used in scenarios in which networks are removed from carrier provider directories. In a future update, a list of replacement networks will be included for expired networks.</td></tr><tr><td>Removed</td><td>The network has been fully removed and is no longer considered to be a valid network. This is rarely used and indicates the network is not a valid or correct network as represented in carrier provider directories. </td></tr><tr><td>Provider Count Drop</td><td>The network experienced a significant drop in provider count, evaluated over various time intervals. Provider count drops are flagged with details on the percentage drop and resulting provider count. Ideon's operation team reviews drops and provides a resolution status - typically a confirmation that the provider count drop is an accurate representation of an expected update within the carrier provider directory.</td></tr></tbody></table>

Alerts are logged with a corresponding status. The "Pending" statuses indicate Ideon or carrier teams are actively reviewing the alert. "Resolved" statuses indicate that the alert has been reviewed and a final resolution has been reached. Alert shown in the Alerts page and Network Insights page also include a message providing additional detail, if applicable.

<table><thead><tr><th width="88.80078125">Status</th><th width="189.72265625">Status Detail</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Pending</td><td>Internal Review</td><td>Ideon is actively reviewing the alert.</td></tr><tr><td>Pending</td><td>Carrier Review</td><td>The alert has been escalated to the carrier for confirmation.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>Provider Count Restored</td><td>Used with Provider Count Drops to indicate that the provider count for the network has returned to expected levels.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>Provider Count Drop Validated via Indirect Source</td><td>Used with Provider Count Drops to indicate that the reduction in providers is expected and reflects the carrier's provider directory site.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>Network Change Confirmed via Carrier Communication</td><td>Used with Added, Expired, and Removed networks to indicate that the action was taken with direct communication with the carrier's provider directory team.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>New Network as per Data Source</td><td>Used with Added networks to indicate that the network is newly included in the carrier's provider directory.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>No Longer Present in Indirect Data Source</td><td>Used with Expired networks to indicate that the network is no longer included on the carrier's providery directory site.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>Verified Inactive Network for Current Plan Year</td><td>Used with Expired networks to confirm that the network is inactive for the current plan year. </td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>Internal Data Error</td><td>The root cause of the alert was a data issue in Ideon's system.</td></tr><tr><td>Resolved</td><td>Not Applicable</td><td>A generic status that indicates the alert did not require any additional action.</td></tr></tbody></table>
