ICHRA Group Quoting is under development. Endpoint schemas and other components stated in this section are subject to change. Details that are still under review, like estimated processing times and pagination limits, will be called out specifically.

Overview
The ICHRA Group Quoting workflow allows users to quote individual market health plans for an entire group of members in a single, streamlined process. Rather than submitting a separate quote request for each applicant, you can create a group, upload your full member census, and trigger one quote job that handles everyone at once. The quotes run asynchronously in the background, so there's no need to wait on each member individually or work around rate limits.
Once the quote is complete, you can access results in whatever way works best for your use case: download a bulk export file of the full group, paginate through all member rates, or pull rates for a specific member directly. The workflow also supports optional calculations like PTC subsidies, ICHRA affordability, and CSR eligibility — each of which can be toggled on or off depending on what your customers need. This makes it easy to scale from small groups to populations of 10,000+ members without changing your integration.

Cache Benefits
ICHRA Group Quotes return member-specific plan availability and premiums, but do not include full plan benefits or metadata in the response. To display complete plan details to end users, cache Ideon's full inventory of health plans and their associated benefits on a daily or weekly cadence. This enables a seamless real-time experience when presenting quoted plans. ICHRA Quote
Create a Group - create a resource for a single group that serves as a basis for census data and quote creation. The group is tied to company and broker information, which is required for downstream quoting.
Add a Census - associate a census of employees and their dependents to a group.
Quote a Group for ICHRA - create an ICHRA quote for the group with optional calculations and filters. Quoting jobs process asynchronously.
ICHRA Quote Status - view ICHRA quote metadata and poll for completion.
Pull Quote Results - when the quote is complete, retrieve quoted rates and calculation results in three ways: paginate through the full group's results, pull rates for a specific member individually, or download a bulk export file containing all quoted members.
Quote Applicants with Provider and Drug Coverage
The ICHRA Group Quote workflow does not support Shop by Doc or Shop by Drug lookups. These features evaluate provider networks and drug coverage on a member-by-member basis and should continue to be requested through the "Medical Plan Search" endpoint, as detailed in the linked sections.
Re-Quoting for Minor Census Changes
If there are small additions or changes to the census members, the "Medical Plan Search" endpoint can be used to quickly quote the updated members. The process for this is documented in the Quote - Individuals, ACA Medical section. The data returned in this endpoint and the ICHRA Group Quoting workflow is identical.
FAQ
What is the estimated processing time for the ICHRA Group Quote process?
Processing times at this stage are estimates, not commitments, as we continue to optimize performance. Processing times vary based on group size, geographic distribution of members, and any optional calculations requested. Estimates of processing time assuming no additional calculations are requested are detailed below:
100 members: ~15 seconds
1,000 members: ~2 minutes
10,000 members: ~20 minutes
Additionally, census uploads add minimal processing time to the overall ICHRA quote workflow:
Up to 500 members: a few seconds
Larger groups: add approximately 5 seconds for each additional 500 members
How long will quote data be available for after a quote is created?
The results for a quote, as detailed in the Pull Quote Results section, will be retained and accessible with the quote ID for 6 months after the quote is created. If quote data is needed beyond this cutoff, then the results should be saved client-side.
Will the current endpoint for quoting individual market plans be deprecated?
No, the current endpoint - "Medical Plan Search", or POST /plans/medical/search - will continue to be supported. It is an important part of the ICHRA quoting process, as it supports one-off member quotes as well as the Shop by Doc and Shop by Drug workflows.
